The Symbolization for Judges Academy
This stand demonstrates the shapes, including torch, swords of justice, flower, and tip of pen. It symbolizes that judgments from a judge should be open and upright, firm and just, as well as flawless. The column swirling upwards symbolizes that a judge should think and examine the details of legal cases repeatedly in search of the ideal balance between the litigants, so as to make judgments that may enhance judicial function. The circular base symbolizes that judicature should provide a vast platform for communication and discussion between the litigants in pursuance of satisfactory endings for the disputes.
Founding Purpose
The Academy is enacted to foster judges and judicial officers in learning, developing their vision so that they will, in turn, honor human dignity, stress human rights and judicial temperament, through the training efforts judicial officers will find solace from the pressure of their heavy workload and reach their goals of lifetime learning.
Restructure
Restructure of the Judges Academy began in 2013. The original governing ordinance”Organization Law of Judicial Personnel Learning Institute of Judicial Yuan” was replaced by "Judges Academy Organization Act" which entered into force on May 24, 2013. As a consequence, the organization was restructured with original name "Judicial Personnel Learning Institute" revised to "Judges Academy".
Inaugurated on July 1, 2013, the founding of Judges Academy symbolizes that the selection and development of judges, the on-job-training for judges and the further research and study by judges have entered into a new era by which the standard and essence of justice would all be enhanced.
Current Highlights
Map out relevant education and training programs in line with the judicial reform, law update and enforcement of the new laws. Accordingly, we will enable judges and other judicial officers to orient themselves to the new laws to assure successful law enforcement.
Foster judicial officers to find their open-minded vision and to honor human dignity and human rights. Through overall planning, we educate judicial officers' temperament so that they will enjoy the fun of learning.
Our extensive libraries and collections have many law-related books both in Chinese and other languages. This will keep the judicial officers informed on current development and combine their classroom studies with hands-on practice.
Set up remote educational systems for judicial officers to enjoy abundant, multifaceted training to fulfill the vision of lifetime learning.
For sustainable education to the judicial officers, the academy tries its utmost to provide optimal environments for lifetime learning. Thanks to the backing from the Executive Yuan (Cabinet) and the Judicial Yuan, we have been approved by the National Property Bureau, Ministry of Finance to have part of the former Taipei American School campus located on Wenlin N. Road, Wenchang Road and Fukuo Road, Shihlin District, free of charge. In that elegant environment, with handy access to transportation facilities, we will erect modern permanent offices and school buildings with many training facilities to live up to judicial officers' needs.
Organization
